Train to Gain
This is the government initiative to upskill the workforce and offers NVQ in the workplace fully funded at level 2 and 3. Basically this is for employed over 19s who have not already got a level 2 or 3 qualification. Many Colleges in Gloucestershire provide this in a number of subjects.
In terms of construction they include:
- Plastering
- Brickwork
- Interior fitting
- Glazing/Fenestration
- Plumbing
- Carpentry
Also of interest for the CE is:
- Business administration
- Customer service
- Team leading
- ITQ

Gloucester Works
This is an ESF project run by Gloucestershire First out of Conway House, it is for SMEs in Gloucester City and covers many types of courses both non-accredited, and level 2 and 3 accredited for over 19s in employment. The fund will pay anything up to £500 towards a course.
Business Link
Up to £1000 for leadership and management. This can be used for the ILM courses or BTec Professional Management level 5 and 7.
LSC
Many formal qualifications in Further Education, such as HNC and HND as well as BTec courses are supported by LSC funding. For example the BTec Professional Diploma in Management Studies is part-funded; the learner pays £917, of the full cost of approx £2000.
